Schema’s Team engages with the finalists of King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation & Achievement

As leaders in the field of sustainability, governance and corporate responsibility, Schema’s team took an active part of the capacity building program for the Arab youth finalists of the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation and Achievement (KAAYIA) on 2 June 2013 at King Hussein Business Park.

Amman, Jordan, 9 June 2013

 The finalists included innovative young men and women who are passionate about bringing positive impact to their societies through their proposed non-for-profit or business focused social projects.

Schema’s Founder and CEO, Maali Q. Khader, discussed with the finalists the importance of governance in social and business development and shared with them guidelines to consider while running and growing with their projects.  Commenting on this participation for Schema, Maali said: “The youth are our future and we are committed to supporting them in all stages of their development to aid their growth and success. I was pleasantly surprised with their energy, engagement and commitment to best practices filling us with hope for the future of social enterprises in the region”.

Sustainability Advisor at Schema, Lina Hussein, shared with the audience awakening facts regarding the pains and sustainability struggles that the world faces today, and guided them through a case study on how to consider the creation of shared value for all stakeholders while leading social development or business projects.  “The new generation of entrepreneurs presents some of the most important solutions towards the sustainability challenges we face; it is with their enlightened mindset and commitment to effecting change that our world today stands a chance to develop sustainably in the future. We at Schema are committed to contribute to raising awareness on sustainability related issues and our participation at the KAAYIA capacity building program came just in harmony with our mission“.

His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein announced the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation and Achievement (KAAYIA) during the closing session of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, at the Dead Sea on May 20, 2007. The award strives to promote innovation and encourage cross-border dialogue and cooperation among Arab youth from the region and around the world. Fundamentally, the award aims to recognize, celebrate and support young Arab leaders who are active citizens in their communities.
